Lost in the uniform tournament, reunion fundraising, and draft-party planning, is the fifth birthday of our website. It was five years ago that Cliburn suggested a website, and Trovillo found Weebly.com to design and host it. The first site was embarrassingly low-tech. In hindsight, it looked more like a Geo-Cities page than the site we use now. After five years, we've been featured on USA Today's The Big Lead and Uni-Watch. We've become part of Fox Sports' Yardbarker network of sports blogs, and been the topic of much discussion on Reddit. At least four fantasy football leagues have tried to model their own league websites on ours. And we've chronicled the oral history of both our year in Iraq and each subsequent season. I wouldn't put this much time and effort into the website if I didn't truly care for the guys involved. So, thanks for making this league awesome, and here's to another five years of okiraqi.org.
The second round is over, and only eight teams remain. There were a few upsets along the way, so nothing is predictable at this point. Vote in the four quarterfinal matchups below.
Henry Hudson's Public House in Bricktown will host the 2015 SECFOR reunion. We will occupy half the floor space of the spacious building and have access to a large-screen plasma TV. The OIL is in discussions with a major American sporting franchise to host the draft at its stadium. If that happens, this day will be solely for the reunion. If it falls through, we'll also draft our OIL rosters at Henry Hudson's.

This will be a part of our 10-year reunion for all the SECFOR brothers. Be sure to spread the word about the reunion occurring on Labor Day weekend. September 5, 2015 will be exactly 10 years since we arrived at Fort Lewis. What we do on that Friday and Sunday is still in the planning stages. Feel free to make suggestions.
The first round of the OIL Uniform Tournament saw few upsets, but several matchups were decided by three votes or less. The second round includes the top four seeds who had a bye in round one. Make your choices below.
The OIL has partnered with Giving Assistant to help raise money for the Support Iraqi Children Foundation. The IFC's mission "is to assist the families and communities of Iraq by mobilizing a life-changing “Surge of Love” for millions of children orphaned by violence in Iraq." When you click on the badge below, you'll be redirected to a site where 5.5% of your purchase will be donated to the ICF. To put that in perspective, Amazon Smile (of which I am a proponent) donates 0.5% of your purchase to the charity. So, whenever you have something you need to buy online, please do it through the below link. Four times a year, Giving Assistant will send a check to ICF for the accrued donations.
As promised, now begins the 2015 tournament to decide which OIL franchise has the best logo and uniform set. The seeds were determined by a survey conducted over several months. The first round will last two weeks. For a complete look at every franchise's logo in one place, click here (or the image below). Click on any logo on that page to view that franchise's uniforms.

The OIL's expansion conference is five members away from full participation in 2015. The potential members thus far are:
If you know any SECFOR guys interested in joining the OIL, refer them to Cliburn's email address or Facebook account. Have them check out our expansion page for franchise name ideas.
