It's finally here: the Super Bowl. Enjoy it. Here is a printable list of all the prop bets Vegas is offering on the game. It makes a good addition to any Super Bowl party.
Expansion Team Names Ideas
If our 10-year reunion/draft party goes as planned, I expect to get inquiries about how to join the OIL. If we get enough, we can expand to another conference. If that happens, we'll need 14 more unique franchise names and logos. I've started compiling ideas here: www.okiraqi.org/expansion
Let me know if you have any ideas.
NFC and Overall OIL Champion Chris Trovillo has received the Harrington Trophy and Tenequer Memorial Trophy. And AFC Champion Jimmy Venable should receive the Killman Memorial Trophy this week. Additionally, each manager should receive his championship jersey in the next two weeks. We'll post updates when they arrive.
Enjoy the big game!
While the OIL was born in Baghdad, the Hangovers/Arrogant Americans rivalry evolved slowly over multiple locations. The franchises were rivals long before the league permanently matched them up for Rivalry Week. And it came naturally. They prepare the entire season for their annual matchup.
We previously posted the arrival of the OIL2's Killman Memorial Trophy. Now, the OIL2 has a commissioner as well. Nick Reed, a veteran of the 158's 2006 SECFOR mission in Iraq, will serve as the league's commish.
OIL commissioner Justin C. Cliburn shipped Reed the Killman Friday afternoon. Reed will hold the trophy in trust until the OIL2 crowns its first champion. Then he'll ensure the champion's name is engraved on the side and deliver it to the next caretaker until another champion is crowned.
This is the proof of the title plate on the OIL2's trophy. I look forward to seeing the finished product and following the league to see who is the first to win it.

POLL: How should we structure our league's trophy policy? Individual trophies or a traveling trophy?
I have a dilemma. I really like the idea of sending trophies to the champions each year, but I think the league may be better served having one traveling trophy that stays with the champion until he loses the crown. What do you think?
I was thinking of something like this: Sculpture Alley. For $10 extra, they can even engrave our logo into the trophy. What do you think about this one with 18 engraving plates?
Think of it as the Stanley Cup of our league. For about $5 each, we can order a really nice perpetual trophy and have it stay with the champion until a new champion is crowned.
Even though it is kind of a pain in the ass to see ads on our site, I decided to add Google AdSense. If we have the ads and everyone clicks on them at least once when visiting the site, we'll be able to offset some of the cost of running such a great site. If we get enough clicks, we can maybe bank the excess money for a better trophy or to cover the food costs of our next draft. It's just a thought, but please click the ads and help out.
