This is always a difficult discussion to have, but I want to be as transparent as possible. In the near future, you will be asked to vote on alterations to the league bylaws. One such change is the inclusion of dues in our governing document. How dues were never included in the bylaws in the first place is my fault, and I am aiming to remedy that.
In the GroupMe chat, the question was raised: what actually are our dues and expenses? Unofficially, I've been asking everyone to pitch in $15 per season, which doesn't sound like much. It covers all our expenses except for the draft party. Those expenses are:
POLL: How should we structure our league's trophy policy? Individual trophies or a traveling trophy?
I have a dilemma. I really like the idea of sending trophies to the champions each year, but I think the league may be better served having one traveling trophy that stays with the champion until he loses the crown. What do you think?
I was thinking of something like this: Sculpture Alley. For $10 extra, they can even engrave our logo into the trophy. What do you think about this one with 18 engraving plates?
Think of it as the Stanley Cup of our league. For about $5 each, we can order a really nice perpetual trophy and have it stay with the champion until a new champion is crowned.
Even though it is kind of a pain in the ass to see ads on our site, I decided to add Google AdSense. If we have the ads and everyone clicks on them at least once when visiting the site, we'll be able to offset some of the cost of running such a great site. If we get enough clicks, we can maybe bank the excess money for a better trophy or to cover the food costs of our next draft. It's just a thought, but please click the ads and help out.
