2016 champion Christopher Trovillo finally got around to showing off his championships jersey(s) and trophies. His helmet is below. HelmetNation.com really hit it out of the park with the championship helmet for the 2016 NFC and OIL champion Dirty Hippies. You can see all the championship helmets here. Thanks to Keith for creating the stripe image and editing the photos.
Former 158 soldier Brandon J. Landrum was killed in action four years ago today in Afghanistan. The PFC trophy is named in his honor. See all the men we honor here.
By Justin C. Cliburn OAKLAND (AP) — When longtime OIL RB Marshawn Lynch retired after the 2015 season, it capped a long and illustrious career . . . but it meant the OIL's all-time leading rusher was leaving the game without an OIL championship. One year later, Lynch announced on Wednesday that he was returning to the game.
"Over the past year, I've visited the Cal spring game, Scotland, and Egypt, but the lack of an OIL title gnawed at me," Lynch said at a press conference announcing his return." Lynch will learn what team he will play for at the 2017 OIL draft. By OIL Commissioner Justin C. Cliburn In what has been the most difficult secret I've ever kept (non proposing-to-Deanne division), I've secured a manufacturing deal for official OIL trading card sets. Choice Trading Cards will produce the first 130-card sets covering the first 10 years of the OIL. Each card will include a different OIL in Action image on the front with full OIL stats and team information on the back. I was able to get a discounted rate on these, so each set will only cost $258.70 ($1.99 per card). Normally, Choice would charge $6.99 per card, but our exclusive agreement and promise to order future sets secured us a much lower rate. There was a minimum order of five sets, so I've shifted $1,293.50 from the draft fund to purchase the first five sets. I am confident that: 1. we'll sell out quickly and be able to order a larger quantity (at a less expensive rate) in the future; and 2. be able to raise an extra $1,293.50 for the draft weekend. Anyone interested in reserving a set? Let me know ASAP.
Post in the comments, and I'll ensure you have a pre-order. Right now, images from the first 10 years are the only ones included, but I will start planning the next set soon. Set two will cover 2016 and 2017. Layouts will be created in real time as each season progresses. Finding the right manufacturer was difficult, but I'm happy with Choice. Our website and images really impressed them and helped get us a discount. Or maybe they just knew we'd end up ordering more sets. Who knows? Launching our own trading card sets is a big deal either way, and I'm ecstatic. Soon, you will be, too. Trust me. Rather than continuing to create a new page for each retired, fantasy-relevant player's OIL career stats, our Almanac page now links to a sortable spreadsheet containing all the data in one place.
OIL manager Zachary Jessen purchased a throwback helmet harkening back to the first iteration of his franchise, DominationStation (before we realized his logo was plagiarized). Meanwhile, Arrogant Americans manager ordered a helmet commemorating his 2012 championship. Both helmets have arrived and look fantastic. As always, HelmetNation, LLC. produced the unique memorabilia. No OIL funds were expended for these items.
By OIL Commissioner Justin C. Cliburn After seven years of using the OIL Blog as okiraqi.org's homepage, a major site update created a new, sleek, and responsive homepage. For members of the OIL who want to access the blog directly, simply type in okiraqi.org/blog. The homepage is targeted towards visitors and funnels them to the essential elements of what makes the OIL the OIL.
The league website attracted 64,524 unique visitors in the past year, averaging 5,377 per week. Most of those visitors want to explore the site rather than read each update on the blog. Now, that is easier than ever. I hope you like it. If you have any feedback, let me know in the comments.
