Maurice Jones-Drew won two championships and came up just short in another when he suffered an injury in the first half of the 2009 OIL Bowl. Between his rushing, receiving, and return yardage, he was a force to be reckoned with in the OIL scoring system for all but one of his nine OIL seasons.
PYLE: Maurice Jones-Drew burst into the OIL like a man on a mission. Well, mission complete! As a rookie, he played a pivotal role leading my Lucky Enuf squad to the inaugural OIL Bowl championship. His combination of power, speed, and durability proved to be far too much for defenses to contain, and his low center of gravity added insult to their injury. Owners got to further take advantage of MJD's skill set when the league began giving credit for all his receptions. MJD had a very well-rounded and complete skill set that made him one of the most consistent RBs for eight-straight seasons.
CLIBURN: I was always a big fan of MJD. I paid a king's ransom to trade for him at the beginning of the 2009 season, and I rode him all the way to the OIL Bowl. Unfortunately, MJD suffered an injury early on during the championship game (as did Wes Welker) and my squad was denied its first championship. But we never would have been there without Maurice Jones-Drew. He is very deserving of this honor.
DUFFY: MJD was my first draft pick after actually knowing what I was doing. The only pick more exciting than that one was snagging Megatron the year after. Unfortunately, MJD wasn't all I hoped. The years leading up to me picking him certainly earned him this OIL recognition, but his Hangovers season did little for either one of us.
