Skott Schoonover's "Roughnecks" Design
Skott Schoonover sent in his Roughnecks design this week. According to him, he completed it entirely using Microsoft Paint, so bravo Mr. Schoonover! It looks too good to be done with that platform.
Here's what Schnoover had to say about his submission:
"Here's my design for the Roughnecks. I'm working with MS paint, so I din't take the time to make an entire word mark, but it would be based off of the 'R' and 'n' that are incorporated into the main logo.
The main logo is an oil rig with an uppercase 'R' on top of a lower case 'n'.
The secondary logo is a rectangle around an almost symmetrical 'OKC'.
The colors are dark charcoal and rust-red. The dark gray is obviously for the color of oil, and the rust red is for the color of the dirt in Oklahoma.
I chose a simple striping pattern for the uniforms more for the aesthetics than for any symbolism.
Your service is always appreciated!
Skott Schoonover"
I like the concept of using an R and n to create the oil well, but I think it may lean just a little too much. It looks like an oilfield Tower of Pisa if it leans too severely. The same goes for the lean in the numerals. But I like the concept overall, especially the color scheme. If the lean was removed from the logo and the numerals, I think this would look great. It'd look even better with an alternate jersey in the rust-red color, which also evokes images of Bricktown.
If the white jerseys had the rust-red numerals with a faint pattern of brick (similar to the faint patterns in the Seahawks numbers), I think it would be very popular. The Roughnecks part of the name would appeal to the region as a whole, while the elements of brick would endear it to Oklahoma City-proper.
If you want to help create this hypothetical potential NFL team in Oklahoma City, send logo/uniform designs to OklahomIraqis@gmail.com. Be sure to include any Web site or social media account you'd like me to plug when I post your submission. The winner may get something from our league store.

I like the concept of the OKC brand. I'd like to see it without the "frame" though. It looks like a belt buckle with the frame around it. I'd also like to see the jersey in the red brick color with black and gray accents.
