PFC: Cliburn's Week One Preview
By OIL Commissioner Justin C. Cliburn
Welcome back, kids! How was your summer? Did you learn how to not suck at fantasy football? Let's hope so, because Brake is getting mighty comfortable with that trophy and doesn't want to let it go. If you weren't at the draft party, here's what you missed out on. I hope to see you at next year's draft weekend.
Dirty Dogs vs. Boomtown Brawlers
The kickoff weekend starts with the PFC commissioner, Scott Buehre, facing off against the defending champion, Brake's Boomtown Brawlers. Buehre was horrid last year, but he showed up to last year's draft on no sleep. He was, presumably, sober this year, and his team looks great. I'm picking the Dirty Dogs to knock off the defending champs here.
Orangebloods vs. Nightmares
McKay started out last season predicted to win it all, but injuries and bad luck led to him missing the playoffs. Mitchell barely squeaked into the playoffs, but doesn't look as strong this season.
SECFOR Sixers vs. Vandals
Vandals manager Brian Gauthier couldn't draft his team, but autopick was very, very kind to him. He is projected to win each game this season. Cordes's Sixers had a good draft of their own (and he drafted his own team), but they're no match for the Vandals this week.
Enforcers vs. Team Tadlock
Tadlock joined us at the cabin while Straily had to work. Tadlock had a good draft and is projected to finish 8-5. Straily had a great season last year (when he got to draft his own team), but autopick was not as kind to him. Tadlock starts out with a W here.
Red Ball Express vs. FDC Chiefs
Neither newcomer Kevin Hodge or Stephen Pennington could make it to the draft, but Pennington was able to draft his own team. Judging by the Chiefs' 2015 finish, Pennington will not be easily beaten. The Express can look forward to a rough welcome to the OIL.
The Xtreme vs. Blue Falcons
Derek Baldwin got Ezekiel Elliott on draft day, but Bellar got the better draft haul. Look for The Xtreme to win a close one.
Great Plains Drifters vs. Mechanics
This may be the only game where the Drifters are a heavy favorite. Gray was at the cabin for the draft, but his draft day decisions left much to be desired. Meanwhile, Pierre couldn't make it and got screwed by autopick. He'll bounce back with savvy waiver wire moves but it won't be this week.
