Season-long projections as of September 9, 2016

Welcome to the OIL's 11th season. We just concluded the absolute best draft weekend imaginable, and I hope to do it again next year.

Hard Targets vs. Arrogant Americans

This is going to be a tight one. Yahoo! has my 'Mericans as a slight favorite, but I'm not so sure. Finch has earned a first-round bye in three consecutive seasons, so I'm not ready to count him out. Plus, he drafted a hell of a team last Sunday. I'm picking the Hard Targets here.

AMMODOGS vs. Hangovers

The Hangovers had a horrible season in 2015, and they didn't love their 2016 draft. But, after a few moves, Duffy is feelign better about his chances. The opposite is true for the AMMODOGS, who were a favorite all season in 2015 before being upset in the playoffs. Duffy wins this one and gets that bad 2015 taste out of their mouth.

Dogs of War vs. DARC NARCS

2015 runner-up Henderson surprised everyone by selecting Cam Newton with the first overall pick in 2016. His DARC NARCS missed out on some needed depth with the choice, but they were assured elite production at the QB production. Meanwhile, Cobb had a disappointing draft full of reaches and homer picks (Arkansas Razorbacks). Henderson wins this one easy.

Dead Again vs. DominationStation

STOP THE PRESSES! SCHMIDT DRAFTED HIS OWN TEAM! And he didn't do a bad job. After years of missing the draft due to work, Schmidt actually drafted his own team from his new home in Boise, Idaho. He built a solid roster, but I'm calling this one for Jessen. After an extremely disappointing 2015, I liked his draft and think he'll start out 1-0.

Dirty Hippies vs. SoonerJack

This is a great game to start the season. It pits the 2014 champion Dirty Hippies against 2015 champion SoonerJack, fresh off his third championship. I think Bruesch wins this one in the flexes: Stefon Diggs and Darren Sproles should outscore Zach Miller and Charcandrick West. The 2015 champ starts out 1-0.

Norman Nobodies vs. Lucky Enuf

Leal and Pyle picked next to each other in the draft, and they both assembled stellar teams. Pyle is a heavy favorite, but I like Leal's Norman Nobodies to pull off the upset.

Roughnecks vs. Whackers

The Whackers finished in last place in 2015, so no one was expecting much on draft day. But Morgan clearly did his homework in the offseason. His draft was the surprise of the weekend (besides the blank rounds fired behind me head). Yancy's Roughnecks had to autopick, but the result wasn't too bad. Still, I'm picking the newly-resurgent Whackers in this one.
