It's been a weird year. Scoring is down 14 points per game across the OIL. Injuries have been rampant. And Fynch, a man I didn't know had feelings, had his feelings hurt and pitched a fit. I've been busy working on the ever-evolving league history spreadsheet (now with updated OPR!) and I've neglected the weekly preview posts as a result (note that Cordes and Zerger haven't exactly been blowing up my phone asking how they can knock out the PFC and AFC previews). So here's something new: a weekly post previewing the game of the week in each conference, beginning with the best matchup of the week.

PFC: #2 Orangebloods at #1 Vandals

This matchup features an unlikely top two: McKay, who hasn't made the playoffs in his two OIL seasons; and newcomer Lutonsky, who, prior to last year, had never played fantasy before. But each of them are 3-1 and sit atop the standings. However, McKay made it here thanks to stellar rookie RB Dalvin Cook . . . who tore his ACL last week. I'm picking Lutonsky to remain at number one.

AFC: #6 Redlegs vs. #1 Sawtooths

Defending AFC champion Zerger's Redlegs began the season 2-0 before dropping two in a row. If they're to seriously contend for a second championship, they'll need to avoid a third loss. But they'll have to do it against 4-0 Reed, whose Sawtooths are in first place even after losing Danny Woodhead (again) in Week One. And it's a close matchup.

Zerger had the number-one pick and went against the grain, choosing Antonio Brown over consensus top pick David Johnson . . . who is now sitting on IR. Pairing Brown with Tyreek Hill has worked well for Zerger, leading to the third-most points in the league through four weeks. Unfortunately, he's also faced the third-toughest strength of schedule. 

Meanwhile, Reed only has the eighth-most points in the league . . . but he's faced the easiest schedule. That'll get you to 4-0. I'm picking the Redlegs​ here. 

NFC: #5 Lucky Enuf vs. #2 SoonerJack

Well, this just makes perfect sense, as Pyle and Bruesch famously played to a tie in the 2008 OIL Bowl. Now, nine years later, the two are title contenders again. Lucky Enuf has the second-most points in the league, while SoonerJack undefeated. But the matchup doesn't appear to be close. Bruesch just lost Dalvin Cook to Injured Reserve, and CJ Anderson is on a bye. Look for Pyle to make a statement with this victory.
