Blake Campbell's "Roughnecks" 2.0

Blake Campbell of Friday Night Design was the first to submit a Roughnecks design. It was very popular and the commissioner was a fan. But the clay color he used could be mistaken for something a little too close to Longhorn burnt orange.
So, Mr. Campbell came back with a slightly different shade of clay that is closer to Oklahoma's red dirt than burnt orange:

"I promised you a Version 2.0 and now you've gotten it. We previously talked about moving further away from a Pure Clay color to a Red Dirt theme. This was to avoid any comparisons with the University of Texas color, burnt orange.
The clay color has been replaced with a color more resemblant of red dirt. The helmet, numbering, pants, gloves and cleats all saw changes due to the color. The only other drastic changes that I made were changes to the facemask from clay to black and the helmet logo from black to white. I felt like those two colors complimented the color change to the helmet. I wanted to capture the reddish theme without making this uniform resemble the Falcons, Red Raiders, Cardinals and etc. I feel like the color change set the team apart from teams like the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma State Cowboys. But it also avoided become something we've seen all too much. The unique shade of red really differentiates the team from others. I hope the design is more in line of what you're looking for and I look forward to hearing your opinion as well as the opinions of your readers."
Oklahoma Red Dirt
I'm not sure how close Campbell got to evoking Oklahoma's red dirt, but, on second though, I can see the burnt orange argument being made just as much for something that perfectly embodies red dirt. So, I think I actually like his clay color better.
I do like the white oil well on the helmet. It pops more with the high contrast and has the classic look the AFL Oilers did with their powder blue helmets and white oil wells.

We appreciate the revision, but it looks like the first color was best. Good job.
