AFC: Zerger's Week 10 Preview
Week nine has come and gone like any other week. But now the playoff picture is going to be really muddy in the up and coming weeks. War Pony had a majority of their players on bye this week but came through with a huge game to lead the league this week in scoring. Great job by Jimmy Venable on filling the gaps in his lineup (getting DeAngelo Williams off waivers didn't hurt). The close game between the Doughboys and Rebel Alliance was also fun to keep an eye on. This ends the Rebel Alliance's five-game winning streak. Congratulations are in order for the Cocks, who finally got their first win of the season. During their celebration this week, their manager said, "We're going to win out; we will not lose a game the rest of the season."
Below are the standings heading into week 10. Analysis after the jump.
#9 Sawtooths vs. #11 Hillier FF
A must win for both teams this week, one will be most likely eliminated from the playoffs and the other will have their hopes kept alive. Hillier still has to set up his lineup and has the players to make this a close game. The Sawtooths lost Andrew Luck until the playoffs start if he chooses to hold on to him. I think the Sawtooths win this game, they have continually put up points but have had bad luck (no pun intended). Sawtooths get the job done.
#10 Hooligans vs. #7 Rebel Alliance
The Hooligans are holding onto a ray of playoff hope, if they beat the Rebel Alliance this week I believe that ray will grow bigger. The Rebel Alliance cannot afford to go back to .500 this week and be on the outside looking in. The Rebel Alliance has turned things around but I expect them to lose this week. I like the Hooligans on the road in what is going to be the highest scoring contest of the week.
#2 Doughboys vs. #14 Cocks
Once again, congrats to the Cocks for their first win. However, if they can pull this one off, it will be an upset of the ages. I do not think they can, the Doughboys have won two straight and are second in scoring in the league. This game will not be close and the Doughboys could take over first place with a win here.
#12 Mutinous Apes vs. #1 Vultures
UPSET OF THE WEEK. I am calling this one, the Vultures will lose this game, they have a lot of players on bye this week and they lost starting QB Big Ben. The Apes have been making strides and scoring points and this week I think they go on the road and get the upset.
#5 Brewmasters vs. #4 War Pony
This could be a future playoff matchup. I like War Pony in this one. They've been impressive here lately getting back to their winning ways. They struggled early in the season but seem to have found their rhythm. The Brewmasters have been just as interestingly good this year but I give the War Pony the home field advantage this week.
#13 Negligent Discharges vs. #3 Steel Reign
Adam Schuster has a chance to play spoiler for the rest of the season. It seems that he is all but out of the playoff race. He can still ruin, and piss on the Steel Reign's parade, and there is nothing more he would rather do. I think that is exactly what they do this week, I like the Negligent Discharges in a close battle against the Steel Reign. This should be an interesting match up that will come down to the wire.
#8 Redlegs vs. #6 Warm Bodies
Uniform Favorite of the Week. The Warm Bodies still have to set up their lineup but I think they overtake the Redlegs this week. The Warm Bodies are holding on to the last playoff spot by 70 points. This is a big week for both teams; however this game should be a close one with both teams being able to score early and often. I have to go with the Warm Bodies in a close match up.
I would just like to thank all of you guys for your service to our Country, and State. Happy Veterans day, enjoy your day because you have earned it. Have a great week.
