OIL Style Guide

This style guide is meant to inform OIL blog writers and other media on how to reference the OIL and its franchises.

League Generally

Do use:

On first reference:
  • "The OklahomIraqis League"

  • Numbers 10 and above: use numerals

League Teams

  • Italicize team name
  • Link to team/manager page on first reference, but not on subsequent references (e.g. "The Arrogant Americans face the Dogs of War next week; the Dogs of War are a nine-point favorite over the 'Mericans​"
Refer to teams as:
  • "team" or
  • "franchise"

Referencing teams by name:

Insert "the" in front of team name for:
  • all teams whose name end in 's'
  • Rebel Alliance
  • Xtreme​​
​Spell in ALL CAPS:
  • AMMODOGS
  • DARC NARCS
  • FDC in FDC Chiefs
  • SECFOR in SECFOR Sixers
​Place a space between words in multiple-word team names, EXCEPT for:
