The second annual Liberty Bowl pits the AFC vs. the PFC. When the OIL expanded to a third conference, something had to change regarding the Week 17 Liberty Bowl. We could either pit all three teams against each other, or we could use Week 16 as a semifinal matchup: the two highest-scoring teams would advance. That's what we chose. I have to admit that I don't like excluding a three-time champion in the NFC's SoonerJack, but rules are rules. So the Liberty Bowl will pit the AFC champion War Pony versus the PFC champion Boomtown Brawlers. The winner will get their name engraved on the Tenequer Memorial Trophy as well as a custom mini-helmet made by Helmet Nation, LLC. Good luck, men.

The preseason is done. The draft is over. Lineups are set. All that remains is (real) football. For those who have been living under a rock, the OIL has expanded once again. The Patriot Football Conference (PFC) will be competing this season. Its managers are:
Cliburn. The OIL is proud to announce updated logos across the league. First is a special 10-year anniversary logo for the league. It is based on Breakfast Supply Co.'s streamlined version of the original OIL logo. Hector of Breakfast Supply Co. also designed the Liberty Bowl logo and streamlined the logos for the OIL's three conferences.
The week 17 Liberty Bowl now has its own trophy. The Tenequer Memorial Trophy arrived this week. Overall OIL champion Christopher Trovillo will keep it until a new champion is crowned. The week 17 matchup between the champions of the AFC and NFC is known as the Liberty Bowl. The winner receives the Tenequer Memorial Trophy. In addition to the Tenequer, the champion will receive a custom mini-helmet from HelmetNation, LLC. The cost of a jersey for each conference champion and a helmet for the overall champion will be $10 per person each season. That (and whatever you chip in for website costs) is the extent of your dues going forward. I am working on collecting all the dues for 2014 so I can find a way to get a Dirty Hippies helmet ordered for 2014 champion Trovillo.
Christopher Trovillo is the 2014 OIL overall champion, beating out 27 other managers. His Dirty Hippies defeated Jimmy Venable's War Pony for the right to keep the Tenequer Memorial Trophy for a year.

*Rob Gronkowski was inactive Welcome to the first Liberty Bowl. It pits the champions of the OklahomIraqis League's AFC (Jimmy Venable's War Pony) against the champions of the NFC (Christopher Trovillo's Dirty Hippies). The champion receives the Tenequer Memorial Trophy. Because the Dirty Hippies scored more points in the regular season (and in their championship game), they will be the home team and wear their home, tie-dyed jerseys. War Pony will wear his white-on-white away uniforms for the first time during the 2014 playoffs (as he was the higher seed in every previous matchup). The managers of these two teams have until Saturday at 2000 CST to email their Liberty Bowl lineup to Cliburn. Each manager may tweak their lineup via email or text any time before 1200 CST Sunday. Here is how each team got here, beginning with the AFC champions: Thunder BowlOIL BowlGood luck to both teams. It's been an amazing season. Each team has already won their respective conference's traveling trophy (the Killman and the Harrington) and a championship jersey to keep forever.
The votes are in, and "Liberty Bowl" is the winner. Beginning this season, the champions of the AFC and NFC will face each other in week 17 in the Liberty Bowl. The winner will get the Tenequer Memorial Trophy and have his name engraved on it. He will keep it until a new champion is crowned.
Once all the dues are collected, I'll order the trophy. I'm in the process of getting a logo designed for the game as well. |
