Thanks to another large donation, we've made our GoFundMe goal of $9,095. I can't believe it: the #158reunion is happening. Here's what it took to get to this point:
Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. Your efforts will not be wasted. SECFOR brothers, let me know if you're going to be here. The reunion is at 1100 on Saturday, September 5 (10 years to the day since we flew to Fort Lewis) at Henry Hudson's Public House in Bricktown, OKC. From there, everyone is free to buddy up and do whatever you want. At 0600 on Sunday, September 6, those who are interested can join the OIL managers on a charter bus to AT&T Stadium for the 2015 OIL draft. We'll be arriving back in OKC at 2200 Sunday night. Monday is reserved for travel and doing whatever you want to do, so be sure to get everyone's commo info to figure out what you'll do on Sunday (if you don't join us at the stadium) and Monday. Let me know if you need help with travel costs or a hotel room, and we'll make it happen. Tune in at 0745 CST tomorrow morning (Wednesday, July 29, 2015) to hear your commish on RotoExperts on Sirius/XM's Fantasy Sports Radio. We'll be discussing the OIL, our 10-year reunion and draft party, and our GoFundMe efforts.
Fantasy Sports Radio appears on channel 210 on Sirius Satellite Radio and on channel 87 on XM Satellite Radio. RotoExperts airs from 0600 to 1000 EST and is hosted by Adam Ronis and Tony Cincotta. The OIL is proud to announce the following:
Brick. The reunion is definitely happening. Here is what is certain so far:
Here is what is TBD so far:
Here is what I need from you:
Henry Hudson's Public House in Bricktown will host the 2015 SECFOR reunion. We will occupy half the floor space of the spacious building and have access to a large-screen plasma TV. The OIL is in discussions with a major American sporting franchise to host the draft at its stadium. If that happens, this day will be solely for the reunion. If it falls through, we'll also draft our OIL rosters at Henry Hudson's.
Who: All SECFOR Brothers What: 2015 SECFOR Reunion When: Labor Day Weekend, Saturday, September 5, 2015 from 1100 to 1800 Where: Henry Hudson's Public House, 27 East Sheridan, Bricktown, OKC Why: Come reconnect with your SECFOR brothers. This will be a part of our 10-year reunion for all the SECFOR brothers. Be sure to spread the word about the reunion occurring on Labor Day weekend. September 5, 2015 will be exactly 10 years since we arrived at Fort Lewis. What we do on that Friday and Sunday is still in the planning stages. Feel free to make suggestions. The 2014 draft party was a success. About a dozen managers were in attendance at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill in Bricktown, Oklahoma City. Philadelphia Eagles RB Lesean McCoy went first overall, and Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant was the final pick of the first round. You can see the full draft results here and here (although the OIL2 is considering a redraft due to failures on Yahoo's part). Thanks go out to everyone who showed up and MyFantasyCommish.com, who organized the draft party. Here is a slideshow of the photos taken at the draft party. by Justin C. Cliburn The draft is two days away. To refresh, the 2014 OIL draft will be held at 1500 on Sunday at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill in Bricktown Oklahoma City. Remember to show up early, meet up on the second floor, and bring an internet-connected device to draft with. Guys that can't make it, know that you're okay. You can draft online from wherever you are. This year is special for two reasons: 1. we are testing a new venue; 2. this is the first year the OIL2 will join us. Toby Keith's in Bricktown is by far the best location we've held a draft party. They'll give us a free burger with military ID, and it's half-price domestic beer starting at 1500. The OIL2 was started because so many former SECFOR guys asked Commissioner Cliburn for a spot in the OIL whenever a spot opened up. But, let's face it, there wasn't going to be a spot come open. Why would anyone leave? The league is fantastic. We have our own website, league logo, team logos, oral history and rivalries. It's been the main way we keep in touch with each other. And that's why I wanted to expand. After seeing all the guys at Killman's funeral, I wanted to ensure I kept in touch with more of the guys. I knew how I'd kept in touch with you guys, so my default was to propose the same thing for 14 more. Who: Managers of the OIL and OIL2. What: 2014 OIL and OIL2 Draft Party When: 1500 on August 24, 2014 Where: Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill, Bricktown, Oklahoma City Why: Why not? Come join us on the second floor of Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill in Bricktown for the 2014 draft party. Be sure to bring your laptop, tablet, or phone to draft using the free WiFi. If you cannot make the draft, be sure to draft from home on the Yahoo! site. Toby Keith's will give a free burger and fries to anyone with a military ID, and happy hour starts at 1500. That means half-price domestic beer for the entirety of our draft. So show up, head upstairs and look for the OIL banner. I hope to see you there. Commissioner Cliburn. Mark you calendars, gentlemen. The poll to determine our draft date showed overwhelming support for a date of Sunday, August 24. Therefore, a second run-off poll is unnecessary. As we get closer to the date, we can determine the time and place. But, for now, keep the date in mind as you make plans for the month of August.
